Although many parents are sure that it is not necessary to treat milk teeth, since they will fall out sooner or later, we recommend starting to take care of the health of the child’s oral cavity from a very young age. The first visit to the dentist should be made after the eruption of three or four milk teeth. You should also seek help from a doctor as soon as you find a darkening of the enamel or the baby complains of pain in the teeth.
Why treat baby teeth
There are several good reasons why caries and other diseases of milk teeth should be treated. Here are five of them that we think are the most important:
- If the temporary teeth are left untreated, the permanent teeth may suffer. Since caries is a disease with an infectious nature, it can gradually capture new tissues. Even those that are inside the jaw. With a long absence of treatment, caries can reach the molars, ripening in the jaw;
- There may be comorbidities. Again, due to its infectious nature, tooth decay can spread bacteria throughout the body, causing various diseases. Among the most banal examples, we highlight angina, otitis media, bronchitis, gastritis, etc. In rare cases, even the joints, heart and blood vessels are under attack. Caries weakens the immune system, worsens the general health of the child and provokes frequent illnesses;
- There may be speech problems. The body is a complex system of interconnected elements. Nothing in it just happens. Milk teeth begin to erupt around the time when the child is ready to pronounce the first articulate syllables and words. Teeth play an important role in the development of diction, speech production. If they are formed incorrectly, then diction will also be violated. And even if the molars are perfectly healthy and even, by the time they erupt, the child will already have the habit of pronouncing the letters incorrectly;
- Complexes. Children are sometimes very cruel. They find each other’s shortcomings and openly talk about them. If a child has ugly teeth, this can damage his psyche, as a result of which deep complexes will form;
- Pain sensations. After all, tooth decay in most cases is associated with pain. By ignoring the problem, you expose the child to suffering.
Do not put off a visit to the doctor and do not expect that the problem will be solved by itself with tooth loss. Let the baby get qualified expert help and take care of his health.
