How to save a knocked out tooth

No one is immune from unexpected tooth loss. It can be knocked out as a result of an accident, a fall, accidentally hitting an open door, a neighbor’s elbow, or while doing any active sport. In this case, the most important thing is not to panic and remember that you can try to save the tooth if you follow simple recommendations.
Dentists advise to act quickly and competently, then the probability of saving the tooth increases significantly. If the tooth is not damaged and its bed is not severely disturbed, you must immediately lift the knocked-out tooth by the crown, without touching the root, clean it of adhering dirt and dust by rinsing it with boiled water, and place it in a container with a nutrient solution. The fact is that during an injury, the nerves and blood vessels that feed the tooth are damaged. And in order to maintain the tooth in a viable state, contributing to its further increment to the bed with the restoration of innervation and blood supply, it is necessary to feed it. Brazilian scientists conducted a study and came to the conclusion that soy milk is the most suitable for the life support of the cells of a knocked out tooth. However, it can be replaced with cow’s or coconut milk, egg white or a salt solution. In extreme cases, you need to place the tooth back into the hole as deep as possible.
Then it is necessary to visit the dentist immediately, because the less time passes, the higher the probability of successful engraftment of the tooth in the bone and the preservation of its functions. The dentist will treat the wound with a disinfectant solution and fix the restored tooth with special devices in a certain fixed position. The tooth takes root within 10-20 days, and during this time it is impossible to expose the tooth to chewing loads and negative factors. The restored tooth retains functionality and appearance for up to twenty years.
