Bad breath can be a big problem: firstly, other people will feel uncomfortable talking to you. Secondly, if you wear a mask, you yourself will constantly smell this smell. Let’s talk about why this problem occurs and how to deal with it.
Severe bad breath is called halitosis. It may well be related to diet or bad habits – for example, everyone knows how smokers smell, and remember not to eat garlic or onions before an important job interview. Yes, and fashionable diets often cause the appearance of a specific aroma: for example, when switching to a keto diet, others will smell the smell of acetone emanating from you.
However, if everything is in order with your diet, and your mouth still smells bad, this is a reason to worry. In the absence of obvious irritants, such a symptom may indicate:
- Poor care of teeth and gums. Everything is simple here: food particles remain in the mouth, too much plaque accumulates on the teeth, bacteria break it all down, and in the process an unpleasant-smelling gas is released. The solution is simple: brush your teeth twice a day, use dental floss.
- Gum pathology. For example, gingivitis is swelling and bleeding of the gums. By the way, most of the problems with the gums also arise due to insufficient oral hygiene.
- Systemic diseases. Diabetes, many gastrointestinal disorders, SARS – all this can provoke bad breath.
