Dental treatment under anesthesia

Treatment under sedation is a real salvation for patients who are panicky afraid of dentists, as well as in case of long treatment (more than three hours, when several procedures must be performed at one time). For example, sedation is optimal for simultaneous implantation, when, after tooth extraction, a sinus lift (increase in bone tissue) and implantation of an artificial root are immediately performed.

Intravenous sedation does not suppress the patient’s vital reflexes. Immediately after stopping the medication, the patient wakes up without any disturbing memories of the treatment.

Sedation is a harmless and painless procedure that has a number of advantages. The patient feels absolutely no discomfort or pain. In just one appointment, you can perform dental treatment of any complexity. You wake up with fully cured teeth, keeping an even emotional background. Removal of “complex” wisdom teeth, treatment of several teeth in one session, installation of prostheses and implants, increased gag reflex during doctor’s manipulations – in all these cases, sedation is recommended to increase the comfort of treatment.

In order for the patient to plunge into a drug-induced sleep, a small dose of a sedative drug is continuously injected into the bloodstream. At the end of treatment, the supply of medication is stopped, the patient gradually comes to his senses and can go home. On this day, it is forbidden to drive and drive any vehicles.

We repeat: sedation is completely harmless to the body. Much more dangerous to the body is the excessive excitement that many patients begin to experience a few days before a visit to the dentist.
